Our bride Clayborne had the joy of having two weddings and you know what 2 weddings means? Two dresses!!
It all started when she found out that her dad’s side of the family, who lives in Cyprus, was unable to attend the wedding. Her dad knew how much it would mean to her and their family and graciously offered to have two weddings, one local and one in Cyprus so her family could be a part of the celebration!
Now, I know what you are thinking… planning two weddings at once? Crazy. Luckily they didn’t begin planning until after the local wedding, which was a timeless wedding ceremony at Burlington Weddings & Events. Their March wedding was beautiful with stunning florals by The Wandering Petal. The delicate wedding flowers complemented the traditional lace of her ‘Ola’ by Nouvelle Amsale dress wonderfully.
Wedding Dress Shopping for Two Weddings
When shopping for dresses, for her first dress, she said she was super picky and had known since she was fourteen years old that she wanted a timeless, long-sleeve lace. It was difficult because most dresses now have the modern take on lace and she wanted a look that she could look back on and always love. It took her four different bridal stores until she came to Annalise Bridal and found the dress of her dreams.
Best Second Wedding Dress Designers
Once they decided to do a second ceremony, she knew she needed a destination wedding dress. At first, she had no idea what other style she wanted, but only had five months to get the second wedding dress in. We had posted a new dress, ‘Clara’ by Watters and Clayborne said “After Annalise had posted the most beautiful long-sleeve dress with a deep back and the most beautiful buttons, I knew it was the one”. She had to order it without ever trying it on so it would arrive in time, and it was PERFECT!!
Planning a Second Wedding in Cyprus
When it came time to plan the second wedding, she had a cousin who had recently gotten married in Cyprus and they were more than happy to help. It was still difficult to plan a destination wedding without being there, but Clayborne’s advice would be to not sweat the small stuff and always stay true to what you and your fiancé want.
Her one request with it being a destination wedding in Cyprus was that all the guests wear different shades of blue, and it turned out amazing. She said this was so special because her fiancé had never met that side of her family. It was so great to have everyone meet and join them in celebrating their love.
Best Ways to Budget For a Destination Wedding
When asked what the most important splurges for her wedding was she said “hands down our planner, photographer, and videographer. I couldn’t have done it without my husband, my parents, and our amazing wedding planner Jill Brown with Sunkissed Events.
It is so important to remember to find a little time alone from everyone on your big day, Clayborne said, “Our favorite part was after the ceremony and pictures. Instead of going into cocktail hour, we got to see the reception space all done, and then we sat just him and I and had a drink and talked about our mornings. It was amazing to have time just us before the night began!”
Clayborne adds, “To this day I love looking back at all of the memories, especially since the day goes by so fast”. Thankfully, we have pictures and memories to last a lifetime!
