This #AnnaliseRealBride’s cozy winter wedding featured not one, but two Made With Love wedding dresses! If you are searching for a sparkly wedding dress or sequin bridal outfit, this blog is for you. Browse below to learn more about the couple’s holiday proposal and their wedding planning process!
PICKING A WEDDING DATE
Alexis and Nick made their relationship official on December 26th 2012. It only made sense that they get married at a cozy winter wedding ceremony 10 years later almost to the day!
HOLIDAY PROPOSAL STORY
Her fiancé, Nick, had the sweetest proposal. “By putting my engagement ring in a Christmas advent calendar on Christmas Eve night.” He asked, “Hey would you like the last chocolate?”
I said “Of course!” And I opened the 24th box to find no chocolate at all, but my diamond ring that we made in honor of my mom’s wedding ring who passed a couple of years ago.” Which made it even more special, if that’s even possible!
PLANNING A COZY WINTER WEDDING IN VIRGINIA
They had so much fun planning the “perfect (to us) December wedding”. The ceremony and reception was held in her Dad’s backyard, which made the day even more special.
WEDDING DECOR FOR A COZY WINTER WEDDING
The decor was beautiful and classic. Some elements included embellished twinkle lights, white roses, and milk glass candle holders with tall white candles.
They had personalized blankets with their name and wedding date that said “ To have and to hold in case you get cold”. The reception was held in a gathering tent to stay warm.
PERSONAL PIZZA AT COZY WINTER WEDDING
They had Fireside Pizza cater which was so fun because the “guests could order their own personal pizza!”
MADE WITH LOVE BRIDAL AT ANNALISE BRIDAL BOUTIQUE
Shopping for her dress was “very serious for me” , said Alexis. She has always loved dressing up in general so this was something she was really looking forward to.
She said she “originally wanted a vintage vibe with long sleeves with no sparkles”… which she clearly went a different direction.
‘Lola’ by Made With Love took her breath away. She loves the way it shaped her body perfectly and almost “sparkled like the snow”. So Alexis traded in her dream of sleeves for the Made With Love tulle gloves.
WEDDING DAY DRESS REVEAL
One of “the best moments from our day had to be locking eyes with each other when I began walking down the aisle.”
On the big day she was so glad she went with her gut and chose the dress that surprised her!
“Him finally getting to see me in this beautiful gown I had been hiding from him for months was a surreal feeling, and him telling me how unreal I looked was the cherry on top of a perfect cake”.
SPLURGING ON YOUR WEDDING WARDROBE
Alexis’ personal splurge “was going over budget for my wedding dress AND to have a dress change was certainly out of our budget”. She had been thinking about having a second dress for the reception, but wasn’t completely sure.
SHORT WEDDING DRESS FOR RECEPTION
That is until she saw Made With Love (who was the designer of her dress) came out with a short dress! “The fact that they had a “sister” dress to match my wedding dress was a once in a lifetime thing I felt like. So I had to buy it of course, and that made the dress change 100% worth it”.
Alexis said she didn’t tell anyone she had a dress change. She was glad, since it was so fun being able to “wow” her husband with a dress twice in one night!
Her advice to other brides would be to not be afraid to go with a dress that maybe isn’t exactly what you were going for. Always “go with your gut” and remember it doesn’t hurt to just “try it on”! Lola and Alexandra by Made With Love were so perfect for her on her big day.
Sadly, Lola by Made With Love will be discontinued on March 2nd, but do not worry you can always still order Alexandra or check out any of our other short party dresses at Annalise Bridal.
