Do you love the vintage and moody wedding aesthetic? Take a look into #AnnaliseRealBride Emma and Cooper’s vintage wedding in Downtown Richmond.
In very typical 2020’s fashion, Emma and Cooper swiped right while they were both living in DC and what a perfect match they were! “ On our first date, we realized we worked across the street from one another and our mutual connections were insane.”
Vintage Wedding Aesthetic
Much like their home and parties they host, they wanted a vintage, timeless, and fun venue. As a couple they lean “heavily into antique-ing or visiting fine arts museums in our free time. We knew we wanted to capture that vibe on our wedding day, so that narrowed our options down to historic venues before landing easily on the Bolling Haxall House in downtown Richmond.”
Shopping For Fun and Timeless Wedding Dress
When it came to her dress Emma thought she knew exactly what she wanted. “ When I first met with Kennedy I told her I liked long puffy sleeves, maybe some mesh? and crepe material; but thank goodness she also asked about my vibe and venue, because I ended up falling in love with a 100% silk backless, sleeveless beauty. As soon as it was on, I couldn’t stop smiling, and dreamt of the dress for weeks before I finally caved and returned to make it official.” She bought Priya by Lea Ann Belter and it absolutely matched the vibe of her vinatge wedding in Downtown Richmond Va!
Vintage Wedding at The Bolling Haxall House
One of Emma’s favorite memories from the big day was their vows, which they wrote themselves. They chose not to do a first look so this was their first interaction of the day! “The team of vendors we worked with were so creative and professional and created a gorgeous, avant garde environment that somehow also felt cozy and comfortable. Easy to pour your heart out in a room like that!”
Choosing a photographer for your style
The couple decided to use a photojournalistic style photographer for their wedding to really capture the raw feelings of the day. They shot on digital and film which just adds to the vintage and moody feel of the day! Emma loved this because she felt it “helped keep a more candid feel to the filmed memories of our day. It helps us feel like we’re back at the party in our respective dress and tuxedo, which is exactly what we wanted.”
Wedding Planning Advice
I asked what splurge was 100% worth it, and she said that was such a tough question. As a couple they just kept telling themselves “we aren’t going to be on our deathbed wishing we spent less on XYZ on our wedding day. Which we couldn’t stand behind MORE now that we’re on the other side.” They were so thrilled with the vendors they chose and said that food, flowers, and the dress & tux were absolutely worth the money!
As always, here’s some advice from our bride to the next. “Enjoy the ride! The stress of planning will certainly creep up. My advice is to sit with it, enjoy as much of the chaos/live in the silver lining as best you can because, remember, it is temporary! You’ve done so much work to make a beautiful day that is the start of a marriage, enjoy it all.”
