Rustic and Refined Destination Wedding in Antigua

This beautiful wedding took place in Antigua, Guatemala. The bride, Bianca, has always had her mind set on having her wedding in Guatemala because that is where most of her family is from, and many of them still live. She has always been so inspired by the beauty and culture of the city of Antigua and the ancient Spanish ruins that run all throughout the city. She just knew they needed to have their wedding there, but with times still being so uncertain she feared that the destination wedding of her dreams wouldn’t be able to happen. It wasn’t until she read another blog about planning a destination wedding in Guatemala that she realized it was possible!

Destination Wedding Ideas and Advice

Bianca says she “would recommend a destination wedding to those who would be willing to go with the flow”. They had to make many decisions regarding the wedding without ever being there. They didn’t even see the venue, decor, or taste the food until the day of their wedding. Luckily they had family there to make some decisions for them since they couldn’t physically be there. COVID restrictions were still pretty strict in Guatemala at the time so that did limit their guest count to 100 people as well as a 10pm curfew. She said that definitely added to the stress of planning the wedding.

Dreamy Destination Wedding Details

Bianca felt so lucky to be able to have their friends and family there to witness the promise of marriage to each other! She said it was such a special opportunity for her parents to be able to be proud and show off the natural beauty of their country and the kindness and hospitality of the people there! After the wedding, the bridal party went on a group trip to Lake Atitlán. Which is a stunning lake surrounded by volcanoes and small villages built into the side of the cliffs. What a memorable trip of coffee, chocolate, and seeing all the natural beauty of the country!

There were so many fun details in this wedding!  We thought the idea of orange and citrus wedding decor was such a cute and creative idea. The bride said that she has always just loved citrus fruits and she mentioned it to her cousin, who was helping plan everything, and her florist was able to make her dreams a reality! With this venue it went beautifully and turned out absolutely stunning.
